As Malaysia accelerates toward a low-carbon future, a new symbol of progress is rising along the KM241 Southbound corridor of the PLUS Expressway — EVCC™ Pedas RSA. This next-generation Electric Vehicle Charging Corridor (EVCC™) hub is not just built for EVs, but for modern lifestyles, sustainability goals, and high-performance commercial operations.
Its most iconic feature? A trio of train-inspired, dome-roofed drive-thru pods — a bold architectural nod to motion, rhythm, and speed.
Train-Inspired Architecture: Movement Meets Modernity
At the heart of EVCC™ Pedas RSA stand three elongated, capsule-shaped concrete drive-thru pods, each deliberately styled to resemble train carriages — long, streamlined, and functionally segmented.
This design draws inspiration from the classic silhouette of a locomotive coach, evoking the spirit of journey and continuity.
Key elements of the design include:
Rounded nose profiles at both ends, mimicking the aerodynamic contour of train cars
Segmented concrete roofing with sweeping curves, recalling the domed carriage top
Narrow linear footprints, aligned like a 3-car train formation on a dedicated track
Rear utility compartments, designed akin to service cabins on rolling stock
Side fenestration panels (not full height), echoing carriage windows for ventilation and branding
This approach isn't just stylistic — it serves a purpose. The modularity of train coaches inspired how each pod can operate independently or as part of a larger operational rhythm — mirroring the movement of vehicles through a station platform.
High-Throughput Drive-Thru Functionality
Each pod functions as a fully equipped F&B drive-thru unit, optimized for speed and scalability:
One-way circulation lanes allow vehicles to queue, order, collect, and exit without conflict
Back-of-house kitchen areas, mechanical ventilation, grease traps, and exhaust stacks allow for hot food operations
Service platforms are paved with high-durability concrete to handle heavy traffic and delivery fleets
Built-in signage and digital ordering panels along the length of each pod support multiple ordering points per unit
Whether it's a quick coffee or a full meal pickup, these "train pods" are engineered to handle high daily volumes with precision — just like a transport terminal.
Built for the EV Era, Shaped by ESG
EVCC™ Pedas RSA is powered by a dedicated 11kV TNB substation delivering 4.8 MVA, supporting Tesla Superchargers, GENTARI HPCs, and a smart energy management system that ensures seamless performance across EV charging, F&B operations, and retail.
Beyond electrification, the project is Platinum-certified by GreenRE, featuring rainwater harvesting, bi-facial solar-ready roofing, and passive cooling zones. Inclusive design extends to surau, restrooms, and pedestrian routes, proving that EVCC™ Pedas RSA doesn’t just meet sustainability standards — it redefines them.
More Than a Rest Stop — A Platform for the Future
Opening in Q1 2026, EVCC™ Pedas RSA is not just about charging your car — it’s about charging forward.
With train-inspired architecture, electric-first systems, and next-level roadside amenities, this project stands as a national blueprint for how highways can serve the next generation of travellers.
