Reaching New Heights : EVCC™ Pedas RSA Casts 16.1-Meter Roof Columns for Landmark Circular Hub

ree

EVCC™ Pedas RSA has achieved a key construction milestone this week with the successful casting of 16.1-meter-high RC gutter columns, forming the vertical backbone of its iconic circular roof. This critical phase sets the foundation for one of the most ambitious rest area structures in Malaysia — a future-ready EV hub with architectural impact.

Strategically positioned at KM241 (Southbound) of the PLUS Expressway, the central circular hub is now visibly rising above the construction horizon. The 16.1-meter-high columns will support a stadium-inspired roof canopy that provides expansive weather coverage, maximized daylighting, and structural grandeur — all while embedding sustainable engineering features.

Engineered for Function, Form & Sustainability

These RC gutter columns are designed not only for vertical support but also for integrated sustainability.

They will support a roof structure that features:

  • Bi-facial solar PV panels for renewable energy harvesting,

  • RC gutter system at roof level for rainwater harvesting, channeled into a siphonic drainage network,

  • Elevated ceiling clearance to optimize natural ventilation and passive cooling.

The substantial column height also accommodates generous volumetric space within the building, aligning with GreenRE Platinum certification ambitions and creating a comfortable, naturally lit indoor environment.

Precision Execution, Structural Integrity

Casting 16.1-meter columns required precision coordination across engineering, formwork, and concrete teams. This milestone demonstrates:

  • LEVN Capital’s emphasis on quality construction and sustainability,

  • Robust vertical tolerance control during casting to ensure alignment and load-bearing integrity,

  • Future-proof capacity to support solar infrastructure, mechanical services, and long-span roofing elements.

As of July 2025, the podium structure continues progressing on schedule. Cranes and scaffolding support systems are now focused on upper-level elevation works, including mezzanine and roof slab preparation.

Reimagining the Highway Experience

EVCC™ Pedas RSA isn’t just a rest stop — it’s the nucleus of a new mobility ecosystem that includes:

  • Tesla Supercharger & Gentari DC chargers,

  • Modern drive-thru lanes (McDonald's, CBTL, Tealive),

  • Retail, dining, and F&B street-market elements,

  • Centralised surau & washroom facilities — all anchored by the circular building under construction.

With the 16.1-meter columns now cast in concrete, EVCC™ Pedas RSA rises as a symbol of innovation, sustainability, and mobility design excellence — leading the transformation of Malaysia’s highway infrastructure.
