Milestone Reached: Shell Fuel Station at EVCC™ Pedas RSA Completes 25% of Construction

ree

As of 19 June 2025, the Shell fuel station at EVCC™ Pedas RSA has officially reached 25% completion — a significant construction milestone that marks steady progress towards operational readiness.

Located at the southbound section of the PLUS Expressway, this Shell facility forms a vital part of EVCC™ Pedas RSA’s integrated service ecosystem, which combines fossil fuel resilience, EV fast charging, and lifestyle retail in a single, future-ready destination.

🔧 What Has Been Completed So Far?

Following site handover earlier this year, construction works have advanced according to schedule. The following have now been completed:

  • Installation of Four (4) Underground Storage Tanks, each precision-aligned for optimal safety, compliance, and accessibility.

  • Foundation and Ground Beam Works for the main station building are underway, forming the structural base for the canopy, convenience store, and fueling infrastructure.

  • Preliminary Utility and Civil Interface Works between Shell contractors and the master developer team to ensure seamless connection with the RSA’s shared infrastructure (drainage, water reticulation, and electrical systems).

This 25% benchmark reflects more than just construction progress — it signifies a strong collaboration between EVCC™ Pedas RSA, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd, and its appointed contractors.

Why It Matters: Coexistence of ICE and EV Infrastructure

Shell’s participation reinforces EVCC™’s unique value proposition: dual energy accessibility.

  • While the future of mobility is electric, internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles still form over 90% of highway traffic.

  • The RSA’s layout — with Shell at the outer vehicular loop and Tesla/Gentari EV chargers positioned closer to the central core — reflects a planning philosophy of energy neutrality, efficiency, and future-proofing.

  • Shell’s retail offering will also complement the RSA’s curated lifestyle zone, ensuring high visibility, convenience, and walkability.

What’s Next: From Civil Works to Commissioning

The next 3–4 months will see accelerated construction momentum:

  • Erection of Fuel Canopy Columns and Beams

  • Retail Store Enclosure and Fit-Out Preparation

  • MEP Services Installation and Fuel Dispenser Setup

  • Final testing, calibration, and commissioning by Shell's technical team

Barring unforeseen delays, the Shell fuel station is on track for full completion by Q1 2026, aligned with the broader RSA timeline.

Part of a Larger Story

The Shell station is not just a standalone feature — it’s part of the EVCC™ Corridor vision: A sustainable, multi-operator rest stop model built to support Malaysia’s energy transition and highway modernization efforts.

This marks the beginning of a new chapter in national highway development — where electric meets petrol, sustainability meets convenience, and infrastructure meets intelligent design.
