The future of electric mobility infrastructure in Malaysia is taking concrete form—quite literally—at EVCC™ Pedas RSA, a transformative electric vehicle hub located at KM241 Southbound on the PLUS Expressway. As of mid-July 2025, the project has crossed a major construction milestone, with overall completion reaching 52%. This signals steady momentum toward launching Malaysia’s first purpose-built EV Rest and Service Area (RSA) by early 2026.
Unlike traditional RSAs, EVCC™ Pedas RSA is being developed with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) values embedded into every stage—from design and materials to operations and impact.
Structural Progress: A Circular Landmark in the Making
At the heart of the development is its distinctive circular main building, an architectural feature that represents flow, innovation, and inclusivity. As of this month, the roof structure is actively being constructed, with particular focus on the casting of the reinforced concrete (RC) gutter—a critical stage that supports the roof’s drainage and long-term durability. This structural layer will also serve as the foundation for integrated solar photovoltaic panels, which will generate clean energy for the site and contribute toward the project's Platinum Rated GreenRE sustainability targets.
Construction of the mezzanine level above the first floor is progressing on schedule. This level is specifically designed to accommodate key building infrastructure, including mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems and the main water storage tank. Centrally located within the structure, it serves as the core utility zone—supporting electrical distribution, control systems, and water supply—while remaining discreetly integrated for operational efficiency and ease of maintenance.
Future-Proof Energy Infrastructure: TNB SSU Roam Underway
One of the most significant infrastructure components currently underway is the Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) SSU Roam—the high-capacity power substation that will house the 11kV power intake system. This facility is crucial for ensuring stable, scalable, and uninterrupted power supply to the RSA, particularly to support DC fast-charging stations that will serve a growing population of electric vehicle (EV) users. Once operational, this intake system will position EVCC™ Pedas RSA as one of the most robust energy-ready highway sites in the region.
From Transit Point to ESG Landmark
More than just a place to refuel, the EVCC™ Pedas RSA is being developed as a next-generation lifestyle hub that supports Malaysia’s national commitment to low-carbon mobility and sustainable development.
The facility is designed to achieve the highest GreenRE Platinum Rating, incorporating a wide range of green building features such as:
Rainwater harvesting systems integrated into the roof and drainage infrastructure
Solar energy readiness across key building surfaces
Daylighting strategies to reduce artificial lighting loads
Indigenous landscaping to promote biodiversity and reduce urban heat island effect
These features align with the Malaysia Green Highway Index (MyGHI), a national sustainability framework championed by Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM) to promote green expressway infrastructure.
A Smart RSA Along the EV Hub PLUS Expressway
Strategically located between the Klang Valley and southern Peninsular Malaysia, EVCC™ Pedas RSA is destined to become a central EV Hub along the PLUS Expressway. Beyond its EV charging bays, the RSA will also feature:
Dedicated Petronas and Shell petrol stations (pending operator finalisation)
Three architecturally distinct drive-thru capsules for QSR and express retail
Modern surau, family-friendly restrooms, accessible facilities, and curated F&B tenants
Digital connectivity, energy management systems, and real-time travel information displays
The site’s dual-access design enables direct entry from both the expressway and nearby Rembau towns, allowing it to serve both long-distance travelers and the local community.
Looking Ahead
With the structural ring now firmly visible and core infrastructure progressing in parallel, the EVCC™ Pedas RSA development is maintaining momentum toward its soft launch in End of Q1 2026. As Malaysia’s mobility landscape shifts toward electric and sustainable alternatives, this RSA stands as a pioneering example of how roadside development can evolve beyond basic convenience—into a smart, ESG-aligned destination that supports users, communities, and the environment alike.
More updates will follow in the coming months as interior works, EV installations, and landscape detailing begin to shape the final experience.
